AM - 10 miles, most of it looping around the grass at the horsepark... finished at the gym and did 30 minutes of pool running w/ Andrea.

I also attempted the elliptical (for the first time in my life) while Andrea was finishing up, but stopped after 5 minutes because I was nearly launching myself off the thing and she told me I looked like I was going to seriously hurt myself... I just want to push off my toes and that doesn't really work when you are on a stationary machine. I'll never match James' elliptical PRs, but I guess I can live with that :-)

PM - 4.5 miles.

Isn't the elliptical weird? I don't get it. Tried it a couple years ago and I didn't know if my heels should be coming up or not, whether to use my arms, which handles to grab, etc. Very awkward.

Yeah it just felt incredibly awkward... Finally crossed "5 minutes on the elliptical" off my bucket list, though :-)

You guys are over-thinking the elliptical I think.

Doesn't the motion of the machine pretty much dictate how you move?

Sheesh!

Oops.

Forgot to log Abby out. She's not nearly as sarcastic as me.

Come on - don't sell Abby short. That made the comment all the more hilarious.

It sounds like James has the elliptical, and Fritz from what I can tell has the stairmaster, so you might need to claim another machine.

From Jake K on Sun, Dec 02, 2012 at 17:56:51 from 67.177.11.154

I choose roads/track as my machine :-)

I still think the elliptical is really hard... I was amazed at how easy Andrea made it look, while I was falling off.

I would also choose iPad as my machine. Another one of my favorites.

Omg Jake I nearly spat out my coffee laughing at the thought of you launching yourself off the elliptical.

I love the elliptical as my XT; I feel like its the closest to running, but you do need to use your arms a lot more on it. Also maybe the resistance needs to go higher for you? Then again, if Andrea thought you might hurt yourself...maybe its just not your XT-cup-of-tea.
