I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

Sun - disc golf in snow, ran in old hightops, had a few birdies and a few good long putts. Found a love for the yellow Blizzard, maybe it'll make up for the yellow discmania Avenger with light that I lost. Then ran to homestead in the cold, finally feeling like myself again. 2.5m

Tue - Ran in the morning canal road, P at Labrum, then a shoot down the non-dead end road, wet snow, 3m. 3 on 3 at Highland w Mark. Guarded young son, easy games, after complaining the tall black 2yr college player guarded me, still won, then was on his team and kept winning until last game where Mark heaved an underhand 3 and his nonchalance was all she wrote.

Wed - w/ Nate from homestead canal to 53rd down to T-ville park path, then straight home, 4.5, then ball w/ M and young un's figuring out how to win, w/ coach guy, good match-ups, we had young lefty's rainbow winners (can't dribble but quick release), then last game as we're winning they switched to man and D'd it up, close loss. 2 1/2 hrs 2.5m
Thu - disc golf walk w/ P, M & A at Creekside, two times getting disc out of river, nice time, they played on hill 1m, good Candlelight service
Fri - Xmas rest, didn't want to rest but shoveled snow a few times
Sun - nite run w/ N from his house NE in neighborhoods, by old long mom's dream home, down near Erv's to JRP, then to 70th back thru Mobile home to his house, felt superb, did 3 stride pick-ups at end, knees felt a little worked but great run, 6m
