I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:
10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger
It's a tough scale. Short-Term Running Goals:
-
Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
-
Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.
Long-Term Running Goals:
- Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
- Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
- Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
- Be a competitive Master's runner
Personal: Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.
Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism. Favorite Blogs: |

| Mon - ran after work, in darkness ran N to Home Depot fence jump, Walmart grocery pit stop, Kearns watered pathway, Grandpa's old house, school fence jump, Park where H cared about homeless boy, and slope down construction dirt alley to final fence jump into apartments, felt like a runner. 1 hr, 7m
Tue - with P ripstick and disc in park, work and ball on 70th, old group w young primes and seasoned vets like me, slower but fundamentals gets it done. Missed a layup 3 times once (nerves with new group) but also hustled and fast-breaked. 2m
Wed - City creek pushing Jo, ball w P after talk w Nate, 2 games, once to win (guarded young Jaguar, one steal, one turnover) and once to lose (one point). Just for sweats and giggles, 1.5

| Thu - ball on 11th, 3rd day sluggishness, these guys I feel I can excel with, but my athleticism doesn't match my desire, guarded by a surprisingly quick skinny guy who could drive and I tried to do too much. He blocked me and I couldn't really get my shot off. A few times I tried to drive ahead of my team and failed. Once tried to help Carlos and get in front of the young black kid but took a hard fall backwards, hitting my head. Came back and made a backboard driving runner. Hit some 3s, then played 3 on 3 where we easily won. 2m
Fri - w Nate biked to 114th S, he on Mt bike pulling Jo, good talk, if all exercise were as easy as biking, ran in the evening consoling myself, with P, his school, circe around to entrance to Park ward, up 32, past his friends, Ben, Perry and Bernard. 30 min 3.5m
Sat - while P at Walk Thru the Bible I disced at Roots, saw one good guy who played college catcher, he was one of the best flickers I've seen, ran easy b/w throws checking Jo asleep, drove in Avenues in afternoon and saw a deer hiding behind building, 1m
