I am establishing a new pace, which I will call High Sensory Pace - dedicated for runs exploring new trails, enjoying scenery, and just reflecting on life with creative thinking.  Something like a 'slow down and smell the roses theme'! Or yes, otherwise known as a Recovery run!

Today that pace was 9:25.  7 miles around the trails at George Peirce Park.  Looping asphalt trails evrywhere, mostly shaded through forest, around some ballfields, and some dirt trail offshoots for a couple miles.  It was a cool run, lots of path intersections, didn't know where I was half the time, but they all loop back together at some point.  Very convenient to having access to cooler, a good place for a 20 miler.

Tomorrow will be Hill repeats, rest Friday, 10 mile race Saturday ... then maybe a long slow run Sunday to cap off a good mileage week.  30 Days to go, and the last 14 won't involve much.

Wow, even your recovery runs seem exciting. I went out for what I was going to call a recovery ride today (about 28 miles) and intended to go about 15 mph. Well after about 10 miles of dried up cow pastures I got board and started peddling! The further I rode the faster I rode...l need more patience!

That happens to me almost every recovery run I do, hence I am making a new game of it. Hope it will help me build mileage, as I can't endure running harder all the time!

Nice week you have going. A 10-miler sounds fun, that is a race I'd like to try one day.

Thx Joe, yeah I think 10 miler is a good racing distance! It is one of the many races put on by ATC, which is free to members. There is also a 5 miler, so a double loop course. I am going to run the first 5 with my son at a sub 7 pace, and that hopefully crank it up a notch for the next 5 after while my son drinks gatorade! In any event, it should be a real solid 10 mile marathon pace run! Oh, and I will get a PR ... since I have never raced that distance before! :) One year I would like to run it in under an hour ... I guess I should add that to my long term goals!

Nice run - wow, another race? You are a racing fiend. I am always so caught up in my training that I am afraid to race. Though I do have a 10k coming up in a couple weeks.

Good luck with your 10 miler!

Thx DH ... they are more targeted training workouts for my marathon than they are races. Just a way to make sure I get in some longer goal pace runs ... or faster, so goal pace feels easier! You will rock your 10k! Good Luck!!
