Personal:

My mother forced me to start running as a freshman in high school.. and as much as I hate to admit it, I actually ended up liking it. Graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and, after a yearlong hiatus, I am now running again, this time for USU, where I'm working on a composite Elementary Ed/Deaf Ed major.

PM: I just had the medley 800 today, which was nearly the last event. It was getting chilly by the time the race rolled around, so I ran a little more warm up. I was on a team with Lexi, Honeycutt, and Cierra.  We were seeded 2nd, so I knew we could go out and score some points here. But as I was watching Honeycutt try to hand off to Cierra, I thought there was no way Honeycutt could reach her before the blue arrows.. and I was right. We were quite a bit outside the handoff zone on that one. I knew we were DQ'd then, and I was looking around, wondering if someone was going to tell me not to run, or if I should do it anyway, but no one said anything.. so when Cierra got to me, I went anyway. We were in last at that point, but there was a girl not far in front of me. I want to say she was from Hurricane, but I can't really remember. I got her not far into the first lap, then I kind of hung on the back of the DH and SC runners. When we hit the second lap, I picked it up a little and went and got them.. then I kind of just tried to hang on til the end. I didn't have much of a kick. I came in a ways behind the Cedar girl, who had a pretty big gap on everyone. Turns out they were DQ'd too though, and so was CV. Apparently it was a rough race for everyone.

I was happy with my split, which ended up being a 2:24, even though it didn't count. It gave me more confidence for the open 800 tomorrow, which is something I could definitely use.
