Personal:

My mother forced me to start running as a freshman in high school.. and as much as I hate to admit it, I actually ended up liking it. Graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and, after a yearlong hiatus, I am now running again, this time for USU, where I'm working on a composite Elementary Ed/Deaf Ed major.

It was absolutely gorgeous outside today.. I mean, it was incredible. It was about 65 degrees and sunny and I couldn't get enough. So when I was driving home from Wal-Mart and saw an XC meet going on by our soccer field, I decided to run over and investigate. So I dropped off my groceries and put on some running shoes and headed over.

It was a high school meet between Logan, Box Elder, and Roy. There wasn't JV and varsity, just all the girls running together and all the boys running together. The course was really small.. I think they had to do like 5 different loops to make it 3 miles, which sounded just about as awful as it could get. And they didn't even have a starter pistol.. they had a bullhorn that made some kind of blaring noise. Whatever. I stuck around long enough to see the girls start, then I took off on my own run.

And I just.. ran. I ran until I didn't even know where I was anymore (I ended up in Hyde Park, which is two towns north of Logan). I kept going and saying to myself "JP, your roommates don't even know where you are. You should prolly turn around". But I didn't want to turn around. All I wanted to do was run. I've never felt like that before.. where nothing sounded as great as running. It felt amazing.

When I got back, I put then run into Google Maps and was surprised at how far I'd gone. I mean, seven miles isn't that far really but when I've been running threes and fours, that's quite a distance. Probably wasn't great on my shins, but hey. It's not like I've got races I have to be ready for. I'll try to be more consistent in the future. Today was seriously incredible though.
