Personal:

My mother forced me to start running as a freshman in high school.. and as much as I hate to admit it, I actually ended up liking it. Graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and, after a yearlong hiatus, I am now running again, this time for USU, where I'm working on a composite Elementary Ed/Deaf Ed major.

Well. I was extremely nervous for this race.. more so than I have been in a while. I was afraid everyone was expecting me to run the way I did at DH last week and I was afraid I couldn't do it. Also, they were doing an alley start, which only added to my anxieties. I HATE alley starts.

Janz was in my heat for this race, but she was in the alley before mine cause Coach put her time in as 2:30. When we started and cut in at the 100, I was pretty far back in the pack. The first 150 or so after cutting in, I just focused on catching up to Janz. I passed her somewhere on the home stretch of the first lap. We came across the line at a 1:11 (ish). Then I knew I could run as well as I did last week, but I had to pick it up. I started passing girls, and ended up getting all of them but two Ogden girls (and I don't think Sarah Feeny really counts). The last 100, I was dead. I was trying hard to kick, but I was way tired and my muscles were all tight.

After the race, all I wanted was to have qualified. Turns out I missed it by .73 of a second. That was pretty disappointing, but I know now that I can do it.

Later I ran the 2nd leg of the 4x4. We were hoping to qualify.. we were 3 seconds off. I don't know my split, but it didn't feel as fast as I wanted it to be.
