5 putrid, horrendous miles out by Quail Lake. Worst run of my life.
Okay, okay, so the trail itself wasn't that bad. Yeah, it was steep and the pits on the sides of the trail were freaking me out. Plus, I stepped on the Forbidden Dirt. But, all in all, it was kind of fun. Except that my legs would have killed me if my stomach hadn't beat them to it. I was hurting sooo bad. Pretty sure I have shin splints all the way up to my elbows. And I don't know if it was because I hadn't eaten much, but my stomach was hurting like crazy. The way out felt much worse than the way back, because I have this problem with not knowing where we're going to stop. If I don't exactly know the turnaround point, the run feels SO much longer. Combine that with the fact that we were in the desert, and it just felt super terrible. After we turned around, I felt a little better. And when Coach joined us, I got this sudden surge of energy, and I felt like I could run way faster than I had been. So.. even though I said "NEVER AGAIN".. I actually think I would like doing this run again. So.. yep. |
