I overdid things a bit last week with biking around on top of running more mileage than I had run in a week since the beginning of the year (pathetic, I know). As a result I decided to cut back a bit this week and take things easier and slower. I ran a fair amount with Kimia, while she would bike pulling the kids in the trailer. It was a lot of fun to go around town as a family. This also helped me to keep the pace of my runs much slower than if I was running alone (approximate 8:30 pace average). I also ran less barefoot mileage as a result as it was less convenient to take off my shoes. I had to make sure that I kept up with Kimia on downhills, and I had to help push the trailer on uphills when Kimia struggled to pull the kids on her own. Running less mileage barefoot was not necessarily a bad thing as my feet had been feeling fairly sore from all of the rocks I have stepped on lately and it gave them a good break. I still walked around barefoot as much as possible, so hopefully the stimulus was still there. It was also good for me to run more slowly this week, and to just take things easy. I sometimes forget how to be patient when I am trying to get back in shape as I still remember what it was like to do so much more and not struggle |
