Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5M this morning on the TM at home before the kids got up.  We stayed up late last night for a Christmas party at the neighbors and had some good times, the kids even got to see Santa at the party and get an early Christmas gift.  The Santa was great and told the kids that everyone over 7 years old should clean their room before Christmas as part of their responsibilities!  Now for a day full of delivering gifts to friends and getting more things ready for the rest of the week.  (Stratos 1)

7M early at the gym this morning.  3M easy (6:40ish) then 4M at slow MP (6:25ish).  Nothing special about the run.  We got 6 inches of snow over night so the roads up here are nasty right now.  It is warm however, so I might try to get a run at lunch in the snow with the Ice Joggers.  (Stratos 2)

5M at lunch with Pat B in a white-out blizzard.  Really overcast and snow coming down pretty good but warm (28 degrees).   Kinda fun to be out in the white stuff when it is not frigid cold.  Wore the Ice Joggers which really helped today.  The path was mostly clear but we did have some drifts and sections that were deep and a good strength workout.  (T2)

7M early at the gym, nothing special just a decent run on the TM.  (Stratos 1)

After getting home and waiting for Kami to leave for the gym, I decided to finish off today early and did 3M on the TM at home before breakfast.  (Stratos 2)

8M on the TM at the gym early.  Nice and easy today, nothing special to report.  Probably only run for today as I forgot to bring my stuff to run at lunch and we are all dismissed early anyway so I will work through lunch and get home to help get things ready for dinner tonight with family and friends.

Merry Christmas!

Took the day off for Christmas to spend with family.  Told the kids today that we are taking them to Disneyworld in January as our big vacation for next year (got a great deal to get the family there!).   I am going to run the Disneyworld marathon while we are down there at the beginning of our vacation as well.

12M on the TM at home this morning watching "The Italian Job".  Kami went out early to check on the after Christmas clearance stuff and was gone 3 hours!  I decided to hit the TM at home instead of waiting to go to the gym once she got home.  So, after spending an hour outside shoveling the driveway clear of 2 foot drifts, I hit the TM.  5M easy pace (6:30-6:40), then 6M at MP (6:25-6:15) followed by a cooldown mile.  Overall one of the better runs at home on the TM in a while.  Weighed myself after the run and I had lost 5 lbs., so yesterday's indulgences had been worked off!  Broke open new shoes to go for this longer run as well. 8M on the TM at home while my wife went to the gym in the morning.  5M easy and 3M at MP.  (Stratos 1)

We were going to head up to Driggs to visit some friends and stay the night in their condo but were a little concerned about the roads and the impending storm, so we stayed and played in IF.  We took the kids cross country skiing for their first time around Tauphaus Park and they did great!  They took to it well and had a great time and didn't fall that much.  It was a great day for skiing and we finally now feel like we are participating in winter.  We will get all of us out to do this a lot more often!
