Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;
answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me. - Psalm 86:1-7 Favorite Blogs: |

We had a great time camping last night up near Ashton and the camper is awesome, perfect for our family right now and easy to tow behind my 1/2 ton pickup. We had all the stuff we needed to outfit in already from our tent camping supplies, so set up was a snap once we got the site. Had a great time with the family hiking, cooking, playing games. Got up after a long night sleep in the warmth of the camper (sweet!) and made a good breakfast, played around with the kids then broke camp (25 minutes to get it all packed up! Awesome, I am going to love this!) then headed home.
Went out for a 5M run in mid afternoon and hit some decent splits, avg. 6:25 for the run. Got up to goal MP at TCM (or even better at points) for portions of the run and it felt great except for the side stitch at 2.5M that took about 0.5M to get rid off.

4M easy early this morning to help front load the taper week. Decent pace (7:15 avg) for an early morning run, getting psyched for TCM this weekend. Forecast right now for TCM...scattered showers, low 50, high 68. Temp perfect, not happy about the showers but things can change in 6 days!
Can you believe what Haile did at Berlin...2:03:59 for a 4:44 average pace! Amazing!

Great 6M run at lunch on an awesome day. 1M warmup with Pat B (7:20), 2M at Threshold pace (5:35, 5:26), 2.5 at MP (5:58, 5:48, 5:50ish) and a 0.25M cooldown back to the office. Overall the pace felt very manageable and comfortable, though the 5:26 mile was fatiguing and took my breath away a bit. A good last hard paced run before TCM. Ran in my Tangent's that I am planning on using for the race just to make sure they are feeling good and are comfortable.

Great 7M run on a beautiful day at lunch. Ran the first mile with Dan S. and Jeff F. at a nice and esay pace. I then picked it up to a comfortably easy pace for the remaining 6M, around a 6:35 average. Very good run for my last longer taper week run. Next couple of days only 4-5 miles each, Friday off then Saturday 2-4 miles.

Yesterday afternoon my throat started to feel really scratchy and my head started to hurt...what a time to come down with a summer cold! So today I am staying home and resting and trying to kick this or get over it quickly before Sunday's race. Feel ok, but the throat is still a bit raw and my ears are plugged up and have some body aches. Lots of vitamin C, echinechea and rest on tap for today and possible staying home tomorrow as well. Mind over matter....I will not be sick, I will not be sick!
On a good note, the IF airport opened today after a month long closure for runway repairs. So my flight to Minneapolis on Friday is on! Yeah! | Comments(8) |

5M easy around the greenbelt. Nice day, good company (ran with Dan S for about 2M) and a good shakeout run for this cold. I actually feel a lot better after the run! I kept it nice and easy for the run and threw in 3 MP strides at the end. No problems.
Heading out tomorrow, looking forward to the events!

Got to Minneapolis/St. Paul no problem today. Once at the airport, the support from the TCM staff and volunteers has been amazing. Friendly folks who are very willing to help and make the experience the best. Got to the host hotel via a van with just me and the driver who was great. Met Ed Torres (from the CU Buffalos, I just read about this guy) and Chad Johnson from Hanson-Brooks team. Got checked in at the hospitality suite, signed up for massages and then headed to my hotel about a 5 minute walk away. The driver who drove me to the hotel was from Pocatello, ID...small world.
Waited at the hotel until Logan, Seth and Megan called then walked over to meet them at the "suite". They got checked in, then we went for a easy ~4M (32:00) run along the Mississippi River. As we were heading back, we ran into Alberto Salazar and Kara Goucher out for a run and said hello! How cool is that!
Got showered and then went to the VIP reception with Logan and Seth (and Megan) for some food and to listen to the presenters...man the TCM does a lot for kids charities and to promote kids health. Then Logan and I went to the "suite" for the massage and had a nice relaxing and revitalizing massage. Met and talked with Tracy Lokken, last year's Master's champ.
Now off to sleep, then and easy run in the morning, a course tour, technical meeting, souvenir shopping and the pasty party. Then, the race on Sunday!

After a decent night sleep, Logan and I got up early (7:00am) and did a nice easy 4.5M run up to the Capital and finish line area, saw the happenings with the preps for the 5K race and ran up the last 1.1M of the marathon past St. Paul cathedral just to get a taste of the hill. Returned the same way to the hotel, got showered and ate a good breakfast at the hotel. Then we headed over for the tour of the course with Seth and Megan and about 25 other folks. The tour took about 2.5 hours and I talked quite a bit with Tracy Lokken, Tim Rieger and Kristen Fryberg about the course. From the bus, the hill from 21-24ish didn't look bad (we would learn differently on race day).
Got back in time for the technical meeting...WOW I have never been that close to that many FAST people. Saw Katie Koski and Brandy Erholz and said hello. Talked to the Hanson brothers from the Brooks-Hanson Distance Project and talked a bit with John Piggott and Mike Wardian.
Logan and I then did a little souvenir shopping at the expo, the Science Museum and Macy's before taking a nap at the hotel. Man was that nice!
Back to the expo for the pasta party where we sat and talked with Mike W. and John P. for a bit then hit the hotel early for as much sleep as we could muster. About 2:30am, the room above us was having a huge wedding party and we had to call down to the front desk to get them to quite down (as did the whole 9th floor)!
