Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Mixed feelings with this race.  I was feeling ok heading in the race, however at mile 4 my hips started to tighten up...but no GI issues this time.   Overall I am ok with the time considering running a marathon last weekend, but I thought I could run faster.  Top 3 and sub 6 minute pace is still nothing to be disappointed with.  Congrats to Zach for the 1:12 and Rob for winning the Master's title and running strong the last 6 miles so I couldn't close the gap.  Running a 5:43 mile 13 made me feel good but I needed to pour in on more in the previous 2 miles to catch Rob...he was just running very consistent.

Congrats mostly to all my IF running friends who had a stellar day!!!  Gray (2:43), Nate (3:06), Lynette (3:08), Curt (3:12, BQ!), Marlin (3:17), McKay (3:19), Bill (3:24), Ron (3:38), Richard (4:25) all in the full.  Plus numerous others that I saw and spoke to at the race (Neil, Court, Josse, etc.).  In the half:  Gary (1:34), Jeff L (1:24), KORY WHEATLEY (1:34, 3rd in AG!!!), Felicia (1:46), Kevin (1:45), Alysha (1:49), etc.

Splits: 5:36, 5:49, 5:59, 6:09, 5:44, 5:48, 6:06, 6:32, 6:11, 5:49, 5:57, 5:55, 5:43, 0.1 - :51.

My hips are very sore...the sorest I have been after a race in quite some time.  Spent time with all my friends for a while then went to water park with the Murphy's for a few hours.  Now home and time for a beer and early bed time...I am tired!

I am trying not to be disappointed in this race knowing that it is all building to a run for sub-2:30 at St. George and this and Mesa Falls back to back with hopefully pay off.

Impressive that you were able to come off your marathon and run a half the week after. Hope the hips can recover quickly - sounds like you need an ice bath!

Awesome time today Jeff. You should be proud of your race today.

Nice job Jeff - following a full one week later with sub 6 min per mile half is impressive.

Very impressive time Jeff. You are always such an inspiration to more people than you realize. You have no need to feel anything but proud of this race. You never seem to amaze me. It was really fun to see you on the course yesterday and to see you there when I finished. Thanks for all you do.

Man, running this time 1 week post-marathon is great.

Take some time to rest those sore hips! Two big races in 8 days (or would it be 7??) Nice job.

Cool race report. Is there anybody in Idaho who runs at all, who doesn't know you?

From Tom on Sun, Sep 04, 2011 at 17:52:47 from 74.211.5.19

Great job Jeff especially considering the recent marathon. I'm sure with a little rest and taper just before the next marathon you'll have a blowout race in St George.

Very nice race. Take care of yourself for SGM.

I can't believe you ran a marathon a week ago and still pulled off this time. it was fun to see you run by I just wish I could have pit a rope around you and had you drag me in. That was a tough course.

From Carina on Mon, Sep 05, 2011 at 00:24:39 from 204.15.86.83

Pretty amazing that you could pull this one off a week post marathon!! Great job!!!!

It was great seeing you in Pocatello... You did great and I know you'll do great in St. George. Look at the bright side, if you ever drop something while running, most of us will be there to get it for ya.

Shadster, you are my sunshine, my only sunshine... lol I did crazy stuff like running a half a week after a full last year. Its good that you had enough to pour it on the last bit also! Cant wait to see you down in SGM!

Oh by the way, do we have a team name for Boston? Do we sign up under that name or individually? Ill call you today with these nit pick questions.

From Neil on Mon, Sep 05, 2011 at 13:08:03 from 97.121.49.224

Very impressive performance, especially coming a week out from a full. Glad I got a chance to say hello on the course. Good luck at SGM.

You put down 2 solid efforts in a week's time... and you don't want to peak too early. You have the fitness, it will all come together in a few more weeks!

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 06, 2011 at 22:56:20 from 174.27.216.165

WOW!!! Very impressive time just one week after a superb marathon! You are gonna rock at SGM! CONGRATZ!!!

From Superfly on Wed, Sep 07, 2011 at 13:01:19 from 74.211.21.81

I'm finally getting caught up on my blogging... Sorry I'm late. Don't worry too much about a not so great race. The fact that it was just after the full is a big deal. Keep you goal in sights and we'll see ya soon.

From Adam RW on Wed, Sep 14, 2011 at 22:06:29 from 155.101.152.123

Key point is that this is a buildup to STG. Meaning you still have it in the tank for when it will count...
