Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Drove down with Andrea and Kari.  Finally got to the start after waiting for the small shuttle and instead drove along with Keary Tonks.  Saw lots of folks I know from past races.  1 mile warmup and 0.4M afterwards bringing Andrea in (ahead of a couple of other runners trying to catch her).

Overall:  1:17:04, first overall.  Fast first half then rolling second half.  The wind picked up in the second half and it was head on so this slowed me a bit, especially in the rolling/uphill sections the last few miles.  Ran alone for the entire run so this was just a nice harder but not full out race.  Felt tired at the end but good.  Won a gift certificate to a local sports store and a free entry into next years race.

Not a bad result considering my motivational issues of late and coming into this run 3 weeks out from Indy and untapered (then end of my longest week in over a month).

Andrea and Kari both got PR's, so big congrats to them!

Congrats on the win and great race! Looks like you have recovered nicely from the marathon. Always nice to pick up some prizes as well.

Jeff,

Congratulations on you win. Kory and i were talking this morning during our six mile run and we both agreed that we knew that you would win.

Great job and nice run. The wind is hard up there when you come down past the 6 mile mark. I remember when I ran the course last year (1:14:40) how the wind picked up. Man! I would have ran it with you if I didn't have so many issues going on.

Barry and I both wanted to run it, but we both just couldn't. Barry and I had a great run this morning and his company was worth it.

Wow, an untapered, unmotivated, and unrecovered win. Not too shabby! Good work, Jeff.

Jeff,

Nice job today with the win. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels "tired" after a long year. Great to see you as always.

Congrats on first place! "Just Cuz" is a perfect reason to run a fast half marathon. This should put some gas back into your tank of motivation.
