Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

No morning run...just couldn't get out of the warm bed to face the cold and my left hammy was acting up so I didn't go.  This chilling out mode is hard on my mental state...torn between guilty feeling of not running and knowing that the break will be beneficial in the long run.

6 miles at lunch in a snow storm...but at least it was warmer.  The pathway was a bit slick so I wore my ice joggers which helped.  It was actually a good run!  2 miles with Pat and the rest solo made for a good break today.

Hang in there! Get that hammy well and I look forward to seeing what you do in 2011.

Jeff this is the same stuff that got me in trouble with addiction. All I felt was guilt when I missed a run when it was a day other than Sunday. Don't train your mind that you always need to run. Let the spiritual part give you wisdom.

My thoughts are so different now away from running it does feel good. Swimming and biking is actually fun not a chore.

Please don't take this as criticism by as concern for a friend.

Thanks guys. Kory, I take you words as a reminder of all our conversations and friendship so no worries. It is nice to have friends who care and can talk straight up on topics, so thanks again!

It was 29 here this morning. Felt downright tropical!

Glad you had a nice run.

Overall, is the hammy feeling better?

From jtshad on Thu, Dec 02, 2010 at 10:15:40 from 204.134.132.225

Teena, yeah the left hammy isn't that bad I just feel it a lot more than the other one. Enough that I am trying to give it a break to calm down a bit.

Jeff, your "week off" looks like most of our week 12 of an 18 week program. I wouldn't feel to bad.

Just get better, I went all summer with leg pain and finally am better. I'm having the most fun running now than I've ever had. It's amazing running pain free.
