Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

I have the day off today for Veteran's Day, so I ran 14M late this morning when my wife went to work.  Conditions were not ideal (40 degrees, howling wind, overcast) as it right at that temperature when you were either hot or cold, so I went for warmth today as I was going a bit longer.  The wind wasn't bad heading out (east and north) but coming back it was not fun.  My left leg was bothersome from the start (mainly hamstring) and my energy/enthusiasm for this run was not the best so I ended up cutting it short of what I was shooting for.  I almost stopped at 11, 12 and 13M but forced myself to keep going.   Broke out som new shoes as the Stratos were getting long of tooth and are only good for a few more short runs. Good job toughing out the 14 miler. The wind can make it really hard both physically and mentally.

Hope the hamstring gets better. I have been having some troubles with my hamstring and found an article in the current Running Times magazine with some hamstring exercises. If you don't have it I could scan in the pages and send to you.

Sounds like you had same weather as here in Iowa. I had to check out mentally just to get 8 mi. Can't imagine being out there longer. Good job.

It's so nice to sleep in and go for a lazy run on days off... almost feels like cheating.
