Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

Auto pilot this morning...got up (early!) and got stuff ready for the gym.   4 reason for the gym:  back was a bit stiff and wanted to be able to stop when I needed to, had to get home early so TM was better option to get done faster, forgot to look at the outside temp before I left, lazy this morning.  It was 30 degrees outside so I could have done a road run but for the reasons above.  10 miles in 61:55 (6:12 average).  1 mile easy, 9 mile progression MP run (6:22-5:39) with the last mile at 6:22.  Only run for the day due to work again and a slight stiff and sore back.

BONUS run today...actions transpired to keep me in town this morning so I was able to sneak away and get a run in at lunch on a GORGEOUS day...sunshine, nearly 50 degrees and a light breeze so I ran in shorts and a long sleeve shirt (and was warm!).  5 miles easy, 1 mile at MP (6:03) staying ahead of a young kid trying to run hard.  Overall a great easy 6 mile run in 40:57 (6:50 avg. pace).  Ran in an old pair of Tornado's...man those are heavy shoes!

Good thing you listed your reasons for retreating indoors this morning otherwise we all might have thought less of you!

Warm here too. I'm planning on 10 miles on the trails this afternoon. Sweet! Nice, slushy rain/snow mix by Thursday though.

More to appease my own guilt for running on the TM when it is 30 degrees with no wind outside. The reasons above are my story and I am sticking to it!

I've given up making up excuses for running on the treadmill. If someone wants to call me lazy cause I woke up at 4:00am and only ran 15 miles on the gym treadmill. Have at it. :)

Well.. except for you guys, if either of you made fun of me I'd feel pretty bad and probably run outside tomorrow.

From jtshad on Tue, Feb 15, 2011 at 16:50:20 from 204.134.132.225

I made up for it with a run at lunch in great weather!

Rob, consider yourself (and myself) chastised for running on the TM during good weather...but not totally out of the gym until in really turns, in June! :) Lazy is as lazy does...which does not apply to you!

God to read how you've been doing. I can see some young kid trying to keep up with you. That's hilarious-I guess sometimes they just pick the wrong person to race. I'm not running for about two weeks, my IT band has gotten really bad. Hopefully the rest will take care of it. Good luck with the back, I hope it goes away for you soon. Maybe warmer weather will loosen everyone up pretty soon.

Curt, I hope you had fun on your cruise! Sorry to hear about the ITBS, hopefully it can get better soon...for both you and Alana. I will call you later this week to chat.
