Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

7M easy on the TM at the gym this morning.  It was 7 degrees outside and I just did not feel up for battling that temp.  1M warmup at 6:35ish, 1M at 6:25, then 5M at 6:17 pace.  Hamstrings a little tight this morning and I needed to just get in some easy miles.

total time: 44:50  (Trigon - 482 miles)

How are you feeling after the no sleep weekend last week? I think that is the hardest thing to recover from. You ran like a stud down there!

From jtshad on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:33:25

I am obviously feeling a whole lot better than you right now! I actually felt totally recovered by Monday. Thanks for the kudo, but man you deserve even more credit for running so well with that nasty crud you have! I hope that you can get well and on track...Moab is still out, right?

I hit a mini-taper next week in preparation for pacing the women's OTQ at the Shamrock marathon in VA on Mar. 16...looking forward to that experience.

Get better my friend!

From James on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:44:05

Thanks! I guess that these killer mutated flu bugs come along with being in a new school full of 9th graders. Hopefully I will become immune to them after this year. I am for sure out of Moab for tomorrow and am pretty bummed about it, but maybe next year?

Did you ever swing a comp for that Shamrock marathon? Is that why you are pacing the girls?

Thanks for the kudo for last week, but it was you, Logan, and the rest of the team that kicked so much trash that I didn't have to run extra fast. I am just glad that I didn't get any of you sick with this three week flu bug.

From jtshad on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:47:28

Yeah, I got a comp for doing the pacing and even snagged a few other things (VIP parking, invite to elite marathoners dinner). If I like this race, I may try it again next year as a Master as I would make their "A" standard and get a full comp (travel, race, transportation, etc.).

BTW, I am glad I wasn't around you too much to catch your bug (knock on wood)!

From Walter on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:48:37

Thanks Jeff, but I feel like crap. I took nyquil last night and thats probably why I feel like this. Ill see what I can do tommorrow.

From jtshad on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:50:20

Between you and James, something nasty is growing and mutating in the south Valley. Are you guys going to get quarantined for public safety sake? :-)

From James on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:53:58

Don't worry if you have gotten what I have by now you are safe. This thing hits you hard and fast. That is cool about the extra stuff that goes with the comp. I am sure you will have no problems getting comped as a Master next year. I just need to get healthy and get my butt in gear so I can keep up with you.

I just hope I didn't bring it north. My nose has been running since this weekend. But goes away after being awake for about 3 hrs.

From James on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 10:58:26

My flu started out with three fevers in four days and a nasty headache for a week, so you are good. I would take a super runny nose over this junk any day.

From Adam RW on Fri, Mar 07, 2008 at 11:00:05

Jeff, sorry for taking over you blog.

James, I think it is because you don't eat enough garlic and honey :)
