Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

7M easy early this morning, nothing special just got in some easy taper week mileage.  Will try to get a faster run (shorter) in at lunch today after meetings.

Hopefully get my truck into the repair shop today to get it fixed up this week.

total time:  51:53  (Trigon - 121 miles)

5M at lunch around the greenbelt on a cooler and windy day.  Averaged a 6:15 mile with a 0.5M warmup and a hickup mile in the middle (6:24) that I can't explain.  Not as fast as I wanted, but overall an ok taper week run.

total time:  31:20  (Saucony T2 - 481 miles)

What kind of mileage are you doing this week? When are you coming down?

From jtshad on Mon, May 12, 2008 at 14:45:45

I am going to put in between 25-30 miles before the race. I will run Tues, Wed morning and a short run Friday morning.

We are heading down to Ogden around 2:30 on Friday after the kids complete school and are staying with friends in Pleasant View, UT (our friend is running the HM, she ran the Strider's circuit as training).

How about you, what are your plans?

From Jon on Mon, May 12, 2008 at 14:49:03

No run today, maybe run tomorrow afternoon (based on how my knee feels)- then sneak in ~20-25 miles Wed-Fri. Heading to Ogden for Logan's pasta party Fri evening, staying down there that night. My whole premise this week is to get my rest at the start of the week to hopefully help my knee. I'm not racing the marathon, so I don't care if the few days off makes me sluggish.

From jtshad on Mon, May 12, 2008 at 14:50:33

I will maybe make it to Logan's party, even just to say hi to everyone. If not, I will see you at the fire pits at the start.
