Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

7M easy early this morning in cool but nice weather.   (Stratos 2)

My son and family want to do the 1M run/walk tomorrow at the Run to Feed the Hungry, but my son said he will run it only with my wife or I, and she wants to escort our daughter so it looks like I am being told to skip the 10K and do the 1M.  This is ok if it motivates my son to keep with running and get more interested (he says he wants to train for a 5K in the spring).

6M easy at lunch.  Ran first mile solo at 6:20 pace then ran 4M with Saige (a local fast women runner) and had a good conversation at a slower pace (she is pregnant but she was still moving sub 8:00 pace!).  Finished last mile a bit faster around the park.  (Stratos 1)

Ahhh the sacrifices of a father! I'm sure you'll get to run a lot of 10k's in the future, but running with your son to motivate him is priceless! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Jeff!

That sounds great, and this will motivate your son to be running with him. This will also give your legs a break and focus on how you can help your son. Good for you!

Pocatello having a unofficial Turkey Trot for anyone to join a 5 mile run so that's what I'm doing tomorrow. I wasn't too sore from the football game yesterday, and thought about traveling to IF for the 10k, but I just don't feel like doing a lot of driving tomorrow. Enjoy the day.

I'm planning on not running too much the rest of the week, and just enjoying it.

Thanks guys, it should be fun to run with the family (I hope to get my wife and daughter to run it too!). He is actually getting quite good, just need to be consistent in the training. If this helps, that would be great!

I forgot a couple of things before hitting enter:

Lucia, happy Thanksgiving to you as well!

Kory, glad to hear the football game went well (did you win?). Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

We did win 21 to 7. I still have some football skills left in me. :-) But my ribs are a little sore where I got elbowed twice in the same spot.

Jeff,

What a great way to spend your Thanksgiving morning. Nice to see your priorities still in check. Have a great day with the family!
