Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

6M early this morning very slow (I ran without a watch) as I was tired from getting in late last night.  Left hammy was tight this morning so that didn't help either.  (Stratos 2)

7.1M at lunch with Pat B. on a wonderful day (I didn't want to come back in knowing the weather that is coming in this weekend!).  Nice and easy conversational pace (7:15) which was good since my left hammy is still sore and tight.  Need to work it with the Stick tonight and do some good stretching (which I don't do enough of) to help it relax.  (Stratos 1)

Those late nights do make runs hard. But at least you got out there and put some miles in. I'm sure your hammy will loosen up by lunch. Nice running this week, and I'm glad your foot is better.

Thanks for the cheer, Benn, and for pointing out I need to change my blog since I am not running the race Saturday.

A late congrats on getting engaged, married life is awesome!

Jeff, I'm with you I don't stretch enough either. I'm always in a hurry to get out the door in the mornings. Nice run this afternoon.

That's too bad your not running the Boise Half. The one I'm going this weekend is just a fun one with no prize or official timing chip. But the course does measure to the exact Half Marathon distance. The way I'm feeling I might just pace Barry to PR at 1:30.

Thanks! I'm anxiously anticipating "the big day"

:( Why not ? Because of the soreness, etc?

Thanks for your comments on Sasha's page. Hope you heal up quickly and get back to the grind. Do you know any Howell's in IF?

From Adam RW on Thu, Oct 30, 2008 at 22:06:22

Jeff, All three people I said blamed my lack of flexibility for my injury. It is related to my poor biomechanics but they all said that the stretching should help. I hope it does the same for you. I also like the hot epsom salt baths to get the muscles loose...

From jtshad on Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 08:52:41

Benn, I am not running just due to schedule (couldn't get away to Boise this weekend).

Jefferey - I don't know any Howell's in town.

Adam - Stretching is the one aspect that I am really deficient on in my routine, I just don't really do enough.
