Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in < 4years.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

5M run very early this morning so I could leave for work by 5:45.  Got outside today on a decent morning (30 degrees, a little wind, no precip) without a watch.  Ran the first 2.5M easy.  At 2M, I passed another runner heading the opposite direction.  I turned around at 2.5M and didn't see him right away, but by around 3.5M into the run, I saw him so I used this as motivation to push the pace up to catch him, which I did by mile 4.  Ran the rest of the way at a decent clip, so I will count 1 MP mile.  (Stratos 2)

No run at lunch today.  I was just about to change and head out when I got notified of a need to be at a meeting which took 2 hours to finish up.  So, I will maybe try to get a run in after work or maybe just call it good for today (no real need to push mileage right now anyway, just habit).

4.5M easy after getting home from work, 0.5M playing tag with the kids in the backyard for about 30 minutes.  Felt much better for getting out.  (Stratos 1)

The habit is bad because I do the same thing. But it's good to get a long break for the high mileage weeks we've put in. It will freshen us up when we start back up again. I really don't have any races planned for a while.

I hope work and business is going well?

Do I need to pre-register anytime soon for the Thanksgiving race?

From wheakory on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 23:46:49

What race is in IF on Thanksgiving?

From jtshad on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 09:45:31

Jon and Kory, no need to register early but you can (and save a little, I think). Go to www.pb-performance.com and look for the links to his race scedule (not the best website). Or www.active.com and serach for Idaho Falls (zip 83404). I don't know what the cut off is but you can register the morning of (I think). I will call the RD and get back with you.

It would be fun to drive up that morning and drive back home afterwards on Thanksgiving. Would also be a treat to run with you two great guys. Although you'll probably leave me in the dust.

From Jon on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 15:40:00

More like you would beat us, Kory.

From Jon on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 15:43:57

I just looked- apparently early registration ends 30 (!) days early, so it is $25 today or day of the race. Might as well wait.

From jtshad on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 15:45:18

The only thing I don't know about for day of registration is the shirt.

From wheakory on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 16:18:27

I'm with you Jon, might as well wait. With only a $5 difference I better make sure I get the wife's approval. I'm sure she wouldn't have a problem. Maybe we can run a few cool-down miles afterwards.

From jtshad on Thu, Nov 06, 2008 at 16:22:54

My plan is to register right before the race, so we are on the same wavelength. Hope to see you both at the race, it will be a fun time.
