Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep on running, enjoy it for the sake of running, relax and enjoy life...de-stress.  Stay fit as I enter retirement in  2025.

No racing, retired.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running until this old body says no, running for fun.

Personal:

 I started running competitively in 2005 and ran my first marathon in 2005. Now retired from competitive racing.

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer;

answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you.
Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
and you will answer me.  - Psalm 86:1-7

4:30am...6 easy miles with Moxie in 45 minutes.  Ran easy to start then saw several groups of runners whom I used as rabbits to motivate me to pick it up.

Came home and got Justin ready for XC practice and school.  After dropping him off, I went back out to finish off my run and ended up running with the kids for about a mile.  Picked it up at the end and ran 5.5 miles in 40 minutes.

The air quality here is horrible right now due to the forest fires.  Yesterday afternoon it was hard to breath and even see!  Scratchy throats, runny noses, congestion is with everyone right now.  Yuck!

A day off to do some chores, hang out with Kami and get a massage this morning.

I just saw an article on runner's world about another competitor at the Masters championships...Pete Magill!  It will be cool to see what he can do though I feel bad that he is getting beat up for not having run a marathon before.  A link to the article:

http://news.runnersworld.com/2012/08/22/masters-ace-magill-to-make-marathon-debut/

Now this is a masters runner with the "wisdom", experience and verifiable results to trust for advice as seen in his column in Running Times.

I agree about this air and you are even closer to the source of the troubles so it has to be worse.

Sounds like this morning was good at least. Have a great weekend.

I can chew on the air here right now...it is gross!

Good times this weekend to you and your family as well!

How did these Idaho fires start? Yahoos blowing off guns all over the pace (like 90% of the fires here)?

You got a problem with the Second Amendment bud? Take it up with James Madison.

Magill is a class act, met him at Carlsbad. He is one of those few older runners that hits the nail on the head with almost anything he writes.

BTW, just read the article. What a good read! He reminds me of Dennis, both guys are so focused it's crazy..

I love how Pete's running a marathon so everyone will quit calling him out. Especially his 6 hr marathon neighbor, telling him to work harder.

Thanks for sharing the article. Try running with a medical mask???
