"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

By the time my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning, I had gotten maybe 2-3 hrs of sleep. Given the kind of week I've been having, I decided to sleep another hour and not run today at all. I'll have to get my 6th day tomorrow, which is usually my rest day. So I've swapped rest days is all. It just means by my next rest day (Saturday the 13th) I'll have run 7 days in a row. Depending on how my "long" run this Sunday goes, next week may be another 50 miler if I'm not over this current funk. I think it's good my body is forcing me to rest up a little before I tackle some higher mileage weeks this Summer preparing for TOU.

good thinking, but 7 days in a row may be brutal. You are kicking butt as usual, good job

I'm glad to hear you slept in. I hope you slept in a lot after only 2-3 hours of sleep as of 5:30 am. You've got to do something about whatever is keeping you up.

Thanks Lysa - you're still the wind between the cheeks of the butt I'm supposedly still kicking :-)

Carolyn - I slept another hour before getting ready for work. I've always been an insomniac, but have been having more normal sleep ever since running higher miles.
