"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Well, you have now officially passed me. I ran 8 miles with you, but you beat me. GOOD JOB!

From Lysa on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 18:39:09 from 174.52.15.101

Nice job JD!! And you really bought your treadmill for $75.00??

From JD on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 19:48:10 from 209.183.51.64

Thanks Kelli, but we both know you'd beat me at any distance on any given day.

Lysa - Thanks. Yes, I bought the treadmill at the beginning of last November on KSL.com. Found one in Layton too, so I didn't have to drive far to get. Thank goodness it works.

Do not be so sure there Mister!

From JD on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 20:05:15 from 209.183.32.42

The proof is in the race reports Kelli. I doubt I have a 3:22 marathon in me. You're awesomely fast!

Well that was a speedy eight today.

Nice new pic! I could buyinto a 75 dollar treadmill...I suppose I should start looking!

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 05, 2009 at 10:49:54 from 71.219.71.229

When I just started running, I ran a 3:58. Then I decided to actually train and I regularly ran in the 9's and high 8's, never faster, and I hit a 3:38 (or 3:36, I can't remember). Then I ramped things up just a few days a week, but still ran in the mid and high 8's most of the time, to get two marathons in the 3:20's. So, my point is that you are getting faster and stronger this winter, so you could for sure be down there this spring. I have faith in you 100%!

Thanks all. Kelli, you are an inspiration! I hope you're right.

By the way, I'm pretty sure you all know that's not me in the avatar. He's some NBA player. Dirk something or another. My wife dates him. :-)

Kelli--thanks for telling that story b/c It makes me feel good that you were slow at some point.

JD I didn't know who that was in the pic...

From Lysa on Sat, Dec 05, 2009 at 14:38:19 from 174.52.15.101

your wife dates him, or you do?

From Kelli on Sat, Dec 05, 2009 at 17:15:50 from 71.219.71.229

I thought you had dyed your hair blonde and grown it out.

From Snoqualmie on Sun, Dec 06, 2009 at 14:18:15 from 24.18.192.33

You are so goofy! Now I'm tempted to go find a picture of Paulina Porizkova to put on my blog.
