"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Ran from the house up Farmington canyon onto the fire break road, then back down the canyon, through the hood to LPT and out and back, then home. Temps dropped from 56 to 46 degrees while I was out. The winds (12-15 steady with gust up to 30 mph) shifted from SSW to WNW also. It started to rain on me during the last mile or so.

A fun run with a variety of climbs, descents, asphalt, dirt, and nutty weather.

Today's weather is brutal! Welcome back for another peak at winter, I guess. I am impressed you ran in that nasty wind, good job!

From JD on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 19:29:20 from 166.128.6.226

Thanks Kelli. The effort was there but the pace was slow! An hour after completing the run the wind died down. I swear that wind has it in for me! :-)

You had a very eclectic run, with the changes in weather and running surfaces. Variety is the spice of life, eh?

From JD on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 20:33:32 from 166.128.6.226

Carolyn - variety IS the spice of life! How're you feeling today? Are you running in the morning with Sasha's group?

From Kelli on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 22:07:22 from 71.219.76.202

Oh, no. I am pretty sure the wind has it in for ME.

We got some snow this afternoon. Winter does not want to let go. I will be doing the spring dance tomorrow and hopefully that will work!

From snoqualmie on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 10:57:16 from 67.171.56.164

I prefer it goes the other way - from cold and wet to warm and dry. Good running! Do I recall you plan to start cranking up the miles and intensity next week?

From JD on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 11:43:18 from 64.65.159.206

Kelli - please do the Spring dance, we could use it this week. I would join you but Winter would fall down laughing!

Sno - I started increasing mileage last week, but no intensity. I will keep increasing mileage, and hopefully have two or three 70+ weeks in April, but I'm going to keep the pace on the down low for the next week or two to allow my body to adjust to the increase.

That sounded like an awesome run; I find myself somewhat jealous...

You've been hitting some nice mileage recently, so you should be in awesome shape for some target races down the road.

Solid running, man...

From Kelli on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 14:18:31 from 71.219.76.202

I did the spring dance, and now it is snowing like mad. I guess I am being LAUGHED at!!!

From JD on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 20:04:29 from 32.176.57.127

Thanks Nevels. No need to be jealous, I'm getting my vicarious adventure running fix through your blog!
