"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Looking forward to a trail run in 90+ degrees later this afternoon. Yummy.

Started the run at exactly 3:00 PM. Right around 90F. A nice breeze to take the edge off the heat, which wasn't that bad in the first place. Ran on the hilly, rocky fire break road. Had to do a lot of backtracking to get the miles I wanted. I stopped at mile 7.28 to soak my head in a creek and stretch a little in the shade. the 11:00 mpm guy and I traded the lead for most of the run and I was finally able to pull ahead of him during the last mile or so.

I think this might be my favorite of your blog titles. Although I did like Base Odyssey... as well. Watch out for heat stroke! Can you distinguish that from your normal goofiness? :)

Kelli - we're all nuts!

Auntieem - it ended up being a ten point fiver.

Sno - Base Odyssey 2008! I'm gald you remembered that one. That and "Please Don't Squeeze the Garmin" are my favorites.

Lysa - you're laughing with me, not at me, right? Lol!
