"Engaging in a little suffering — however self-imposed, arbitrary and contrived — before breakfast each morning tends to demand some humility and injects some marked relief into the rest of the day, making things sharper, more inspired, more immediately aware of the powerful presence of being. And that seems really worthwhile." A. Krupicka

"I cruised down hills, churned up hills, and floated over the asphalt, existing in a world that seemed to lack the confinements of such ubiquitous rivets as time, obligation, or pain. I knew then that this was destined to be one of those serendipitous runs for which so many of
us strive yet so rarely achieve." J. Nevels

Warm and windy. Great run.

Enjoy taper time. When do you officially start your taper?

Carolyn - I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm obviously already cutting back this week, but I don't think I'm going to do too much tapering, I'd like to sort of train right through this half and treat it like a killer tempo run (well, killer for me anyway). We'll see, I am feeling pretty tired this week.

Taper some, it will help. Although I do not think you have to majorly do it for a half. I say just do what you want and what feels good. If you are tired, sleep!

Man, it was way hotter here at lunch. I wonder how that is possible.

Thanks Kelli - sleep is good advice. I will cut back on mileage a lot next week. Enough so that I end up with 55 miles AFTER the half.

It's hot! I'm happy for the heat now. Got to remember to take a water bottle on the medium runs!
