Last night I thought this would be a flag rock run. 30 seconds into this run I realized that I wasn't going to make it. My legs were tired and very stiff. Usually after a harder run my legs will be stiff for about half a mile but today they were stiff and very slow for the first 2 miles. It usually takes me about 22 minutes to do the first two miles of the flag rock course, today it took 24+ minutes. Consequently I decided to just run the firebreak road loop, a much flatter route. It was still pretty slow but I figured this is a recovery run. If Geoffrey Mutai runs a 4:50 race pace and an 8:00 recovery run pace it must be ok for me to want to run a 7:00 race pace and a 10:31 recovery pace, right? I'll try flag rock again tomorrow. |
