My wife got me a Garmin FR620 for Christmas so I tried it out today.  I hardly had to read the manual before my run.  I just pushed go and the GPS connected and recorded the run.  It will be nice to leave my phone and armband at home.

I did a 4 mile tempo run at marathon pace after 2 warm-up miles.  6:59, 7:06, 6:55, 6:39.

Nice tempo run... and that's a nice XMas present! :-)

So JakeA, have you chosen a marathon to attack?

I haven't chosen a marathon yet. Any recommendations? I'm probably going to do the Salt Lake Half in April and no plans after that.

Being from Utah I would go for the St George marathon in Oct, and if you miss the lottery for St Geo, sign up for Top of Utah in Logan in September! I've run both of these marathons and I believe they are perfect for a first marathon. The St Geo lottery usually opens on April 1st and they announce the winners in early May.

That sounds like a good plan. I'll definitely put in for the St. George. I've also heard from others that the Top of Utah is great course. Thanks for the recommendation.
