5 miles on Shoreline Trail, my arch was bugging me a bit today but otherwise felt fine.

Ran at Sugarhouse. 3 miles before the rest of the team showed up. Did Cemetery Run but 20 minutes of fartlek at the Cemetery instead of doing laps we did one lap and then ran out and down a the street right above it. Went down that street until I hit 3900 then turned left and ran up to 2300 then left again and finished the fartlek at 3700 and 2300. 3.38 in 20 minutes so not bad. Jogged back to the park and added to 14 for the day.

Started at Liberty Park and ran down to Granite High. Did some strides and then Bill told us the workout. It was 3 sets of 4x400 but the times were 85,80,75,70. He told me that It was mostly to open up the stride and to help me learn how to feel pace. We had 1 minute rest between repeat and 2 jog laps between sets. Afterwards we jogged back to Liberty and added to 12.

Also signed up for Bikram Yoga, which is yoga in 105 degree room. It was very relaxing and felt pretty loose afterwards. Pasta for dinner.

Made sure I got to bed really early so I wasnt tired when I woke up at 4:50. The start of the 10k was by my house so jogged about a mile over to the start. Used the bathroom and did some drills and strides plus a bit more jogging.

Once the race start I was working with Colton (Davis), Garett (Ogden), and Jared Ward (Saucony). Then Jared and I started moving up a bit on Foothill by Corner Bakery and when we turned on to 13th he surged and gapped me. From that point on I focused on the runner in front of me, who was from Japan, and tried to catch him. I wasnt able to until we turned up 9 south so going down South Temple and 2nd East were pretty lonely. When I looked back I could see a runner that seemed to be getting closer but I couldnt really tell. When we turned up 9th south I was in 6th and I finally caught the runner ahead of me by 4th east. Then another runner came up on me at 5th east and we battled a bit but once we hit 6th east I pulled out everything I had and gutted it out to the finish. Ended up outkicking him and also came super close to breaking 30 minutes. This was my 10k "debut" so I was pretty happy with it.

Bill was running the Marathon so I drove up to Foothill and ran with him along there, cut out at Guardsmen and ran down to Liberty and then ran back along the Parade Route with Nat until we found him and helped him finish. He ended up 5th overall and winning the masters!! Huge Congrats to him was well as Angie and Diwas who raced the half and Clara, Tresa, Hannah, Toph, Emma, and Clayton who raced the 10K.
