The training plan for St. G. called for 8 miles with 10x100 strides, but in the interest of having a good race this Saturday I'm cutting back my miles a bit.

Started out with a mile plus of slow for me miles with a coworker, then picked up the pace. Last 5 miles ave 7:34, 153 bpm.

Are you running UVM?

Teena, he's running the Wahsatch Steeplechase this weekend. Can't wait to read about it.

Good Luck next weekend!

I didn't know you are running UVM. Do you have a time goal?

Opps I just read the above comments and now I remember you are doing the steeplechase. How far is that?

Thanks Dale and Kathy. I'll try to report asap but immediately after the race I have to pick my kids up from the sitter and run a bunch of errands.

It's advertised as 17.5 miles and 9,000 feet of vertical gain and loss.

I'm thinking of this race as having 4 sections:

"4500 vertical feet in the first 6 miles"

Slow walk and scramble miles on a craggy ridge, "difficulty rating of 5.4 (Yosemite Decimal System)."

"2.5 miles of quad-burning, gut-wrenching, knee-breaking downhill on an overgrown, root-infested single-track trail."

Then fast miles running down a road and mellow trail back to the start.

(I'm trying to get mentally ready.)
