I met Jenny Fidler down on the river trail to run.  It was really dark, so I'm glad I had a friend to run with.  We tried to stay out of the sketchier parts of the trail, so we ran two miles to the south and back, then we ran two miles to the north and back.  Eight miles in 1:00:03, so exactly 7:30 pace.  It felt pretty tough this morning.  Maybe it's the hour time change.  But, in the last 4 weeks I have dropped from over 8 minute pace for 2 miles to 7:30 pace for 8 miles.  Maybe I will get fit again!

45 minute run.  10 minute warm up, followed by 30 minutes of 2 minutes on/off.  8 total sets of 2 minutes on.  5 minute cooldown.

No weight loss this week.  Stubborn baby pounds!

I felt a little bit pounded after yesterday's run.  My hips and achilles were sore.  So, I ran loops at Liberty Park to keep it on the soft surface.  I didn't time my run.  I'm sure it was really slow.  It felt good on my joints, but soft surface running definitely takes more strength.  I will be running longer tomorrow.

Yes, the extra .06 is very important!

I met Jenny at Murray Park for a run through the Murray neighborhoods.  The run had lots of rolling hills.  I was still feeling Tuesday's workout, but definitely felt better than yesterday.  The soft surface jog made a big difference.  1:02:28 for the run.

It was a beautiful morning, albeit dark.  I only planned on 5 miles, but was enjoying my run so much that I extended it to six.  I felt great.  My legs felt a bit fresher than the last couple of days.  I busted out my new light-up arm band that I won in a race this winter.  I really liked being more visible.  The pulsing light setting felt like running in a strobe light, and effected my depth perception.  Plus, I don't think the arm bands are made for the bicep-challenged.  Maybe they have a child size.

I ran 4800S to the River trail and up at Millrace Park.  I love spring!  Too bad it's supposed to get cold again in a few days.

Later AM:  Zumba class.

One hour treadmill run with a little bit of speed thrown in.  First, I warmed up for 15 minutes.  Then, I did three sets of 3 min. 2 min. 1 min. with 2 min. 2 min. 1 min. recovery.  I ran the recoveries at 7.5 mph.  The first set I ran 9.2, 9.6, and 10 mph.  Set 2 was 9.3, 9.7, and 10.1 mph.  Set 3 was 9.4, 9.8, and 10.2 mph.  The workout was a little tough, but not out of control.  I just want to start improving my pace and get a little turnover going.

I'm really pleased this week.  It's difficult not to go crazy and ramp up the training.  This is my first full week of running, and I hit 40 miles this week.  I know that is still pretty minimal, but it's a long way from where I started 4 weeks ago.

If I have time, I may go take St. Patrick's Day Zumba later this morning.  Do they celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Brazil?
