Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

Still reeling from yesterdays news...

20 min warm up

2 x100 striders

4 x 200m @ 5k pace (goal was 6:09- actual 5:50, 6:00, 5:57, 5:56) with 100m jog

400m jog

5 x 1 mile with 2 min rest @ tempo pace (goal was 6:39, act: 6:32, 6:33, 6:38, 6:37, 6:58--oops...   60 degrees plus today.  Beautiful but really windy!  I'd like to think that was why #5 was so slow, but....

6.25 mile cool down--Went out on the trails around the school...muddy but a delicious rest on the legs.

SO, glad I got through this workout.  These are hard by self.  Woke up with intentions of going to Boulder to workout with the BRC crew and as I was leaving had a massive bloodynose that took 15 minutes to get under control.  By then,. I was going to be way late as it is at least 45 minute drive to our meeting place...sigh..went back to bed.

Found out my son has pneumonia up at school.  Tempted to go get him and bring him home for a ffew days, but he has to check in with his coach.  hate that he will have to miss almost a week of school.  They gave him a mask to wear, so hopefully if his fever breaks tonight, he can go back by Tuesday and wear his mask.  His roommate was in the ER yesterday as well.  I think they have been incubating some nasty germs in that room...Drew took care of roommate for almost a week before he caught it...YUCK!

yikes on the bloody nose, and sick son!! wow. Boys and their rooms ... I wouldn't go in without a mask myself ;-).

Great workout. Hope you are doing ok, I can only imagine how difficult it is to get your head around the violence and sadness.

Thanks so much, Bonnie. Most days my job is amazing, but I do have to realize that ultimately, my patients will make choices that are not the best. My hope is that this horrible situation will inspire some of my other guys to slow down and think beofre taking htat next hit or trying to make that next deal...

As far as the boys go, apparently classes are being cancelled. By the time my son got back to his room, it was time to take his roommate back to the clinic and then to the ER. At around midnight, their coach showed up and made my son go home...so waiting to see how his roomie is...

Dang, sorry to hear about your patient, your bloody nose and your son! Pretty hectic couple of days.

Scott_ thanks for the pat! They are cancelling classes up at his school now and they cannot run for at least a week. With no school (til Friday for Drew) he has been eating and napping...

Eric-so sorry about your 5k! Nothing like a little "dust" storm to ruin a race..sigh...It has been a CRAZY week!
