Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

SO, found out one of my patients was brutally murdered today...so, did not have time to run much...

EASY 4 miles at Bear Creek Park.  It was dark by the time I got home and the moon was not as bright as I thought.  SO, as much as I needed a longer run, it just was not safe enough footing without a headlamp. Ended up missing Jurek, McDougall and Krupicka speaking in Boulder tonight, so sad on many levels...

On a more positive note, just got notified that i am definitely running the Illinois mrathon!  Thanks so much to Mike Almquist and GoFar Events.  Very excited to have my marathon (re)debut on such a friendly and FLAT course.  Anyone else running it??

HOLY COW Karen ... was this a current patient or a previous patient? I hope you are ok. Sounds tragic, and sad.

The Illinois marathon looks very cool -- I am sort of tempted, although a marathon was not really on my radar this year ... this looks pretty darn tempting. Anyway, congratulations and I can't wait to cheer you from near or far!

THANK you so much, Bonnie! It was a current patient, and yes very tragic (in the stricteset sense of the definition...) and very sad as well. I spent several hours tracking leads to try and reach his father to notify him, tono avail. I really wanted to have him hera it from us instead of the news. Hopefully, the police have had better luck tracking him than I did..

The beauty of running is that it helps make life wonderfully bearable and adds so much at the same time. REALLY excited about Illinois. I heard really good things about its running last year. You really should come out and run it!! We could hang out and be total track geeks all weekend!!

Congrats on the marathon news. I have heard good things about that race.

So sorry to hear about your patient. That is horrible.

Thanks Scott! What a day off pure ups and downs. In between trying to fill out my critical incident report and trying to make next of kin contacts, I was also faxing my info off and signing waivers for the marathon. Yo-Yo day...
