Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

Recovery run!  SO, meant to go much further today...

Played "Flip me the Bird" with the kids--tag game involving a rubber chicken, that also involves running and teamwork.  Then , we went out to the trails/woods nearby for a moderate run.  Was the only coach today, so I had to get back with the earliest group o' kids and did not get my mileage in.

Met with a very upset Angela (other coach) who just came back from her faculty meeting.  Glad I am not a teacher, as they are debating whether giving students a zero (when they do not turn something in) is bad for their self-esteem, and instead should give them like 60% to give them a chance.  REALLY???  Is this up for discussion???  To me, a zero is a zero...

i could totally call my 4 miler a 14 mile run then, and then blame society when I do not get the time I want in my next marathon.  Sounds fair...

How about teaching them that if they do their work on time, it increases their self-esteem. Giving a 60 for doing nothing is not going to increase self-esteem. As an adult, that might even decrease my self-esteem. What about those that did their work and only get a 70? What to they think giving 60s to the kids that do nothing does do the C average kids who are trying. Okay...I'm off my soap box!

i say give them a 90%, a new car and a juice box.
