Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

Mile Repeats

WU/Stretching & Drills

2 Strides

4 x (200m @6-6:30s, jog 100m)

2 minute jog

5 x 1 mile with 2 minute active rest (jogging) between

Ran these at the track with the boys and basically acted as the caboose (though the last one was fun when they were really tired and i caught a few!!)  Choose to run these slower than our 8k paces with the focus being on the "3rd lap" snce I have so many milers in our group.  Weather started at upper 40's with full sun...

SO, my splits were as follows (with the goal being 6:45's so just under AT pace)  6:46, 6:48, 6:43, 6:42, and 6:20.  Had too much fun on the last one, so I know there really was room to go faster on these.  Generally I start the boys here just to bust  the rust a bit.  Compared to the summer, the boys had a hard time just doing 3 of these at this point to compare.  With me being the caboose this time, it is definitely time to step up their pre-season paces!!!  YAY!

Cool Down.

Also very excited to see them talking through most of this workout (until the 3rd laps where I asked them to be "present").  Good stuff!

Ummm I'm not sure you're counting, but I believe that is 44 miles in the last 4 days. Woooah! Nice work there and excellent splits as well. Do you believe in rest days? :)

Burt--don't let that get around! Actually, the boys are fast...they just drag me around the track!

Scott-I'm excited that I am feelingthis fresh after some relatively solid mileage. you'll see some holes on my blog, which essentially were "forced" rest days when i physically could not run due to travel time (my neuropathy acts up HUGE when I drive long distances). SO, though I do not necessarily build in rest days, they often come to me when i need them most...Thank you so much for the feedback guys!
