Running Accomplishments:

I'm a 40+ "used to be"...

7 years ago had BAD case of frostbite and nearly lost my feet.  Stopped running (obviously) & gained LOTS of weight.  Started jogging again when local community club needed a coach and found out that exercise helped to increase circulation in my affected areas as well as decreased overall weight which helped to take pressure off my feet.  Still deal with neuropathy and Reynauds--but do not take ANY pain meds to manage the pain.  Gotta' love running!!!

SO, any past accomplishments do not matter....only that I can get ut the door almost every day and run another run.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Currently building base to lead up to traditional Marathon

Goals:

Have not yet decided on race schedule for this year, but am shifting focus from ultras to trying to nail down some shorter speedy races and a tradtional marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running for as long as I can & share the knowledge that God has graced me with by continuing to coach as well.

Personal:

Son:  Drew...currently runs for Adam's State!!

Currently Coaching:  Revolution Running

Day Job:  St. Joe's Veteran's Home

I'll take "months that begin with the letter M" for $100

AM run:   Deer Creek

SO, today Stephanie had an epiphany.  That I am truly a ditz, and no, not faking it in a cute way.  TRULY a ditz.  So, after getting lost on my way to meet her for an epic run (Steph-I got lost ont he way oout as well-the same way I got lost coming in), she also realized that I mix up my months as well...March, May--they both begin with "MA" so its easy to se ehow I get confused...

Missing my workout in Boulder due to strange communication issues, I was able to get a hold of super Steph for a meet up.  She decided that we needed to do some hill work, and OH BOY!  Did we!  After making a wrong turn and then overshooting our meeting place, she "pulled me over" in her car and led me to the parking area.

It was in the 40's already, so gorgeous day to run in Deer Creek.  hopefully she will have some data on our verts cuz they were amazing!  Still feeling pretty flat, so the hills REALLY kicked my bum.  Stephanie, however, darted up and down them (waiting patiently for me to slog my way...) and then would dart away for more.  Good Times!  We did a two-fer and decided to make this our long day with some hills thrown in.

Our final real uphill was 1.5 miles up!  (mine was probably closer to 1.4, cuz screamin' Stepahnie gapped me pretty good).  Down hills felt ok, but I didn't really feel my wheels moving until around the 11 mile mark, where we were able to motor for a bit on a slight downhill.  SO, 13 for the morning in 1:50, which I thought was pretty darn good considering the hillage!

PM:

Went home and ate some good ZA!  (Yes, Stephanie, I had good intentions to eat some eggs and then go move furniture, but my patient cancelled on me and instead, I broke up ice and shoveled snow for almost 2 hours...so pizza it was!!)  Watched the mile races for the Huskie invite, as my son's team was competing at UW.  Took a quick rinse and quick nap, woke up to squeeze in a few more miles befoer the sun went down AND in time to watch the 3k and try to watch my HS'er Brandon at the Great Southwest Invite in ALBQ (his brother, coincidentally, was running at UW as well).

SO, not quite the additional 6 that I hoped for (ran out of time and got REALLY hungry), but knocked out an easy, sleazy 4.  Time for chocolate, live feed track meets and LOTS of sleep!

Great day for track and field!! So many meets, so little time.

My favs:

Lagat and Lucas- champions both of them. The men's 3000 at the Husky -- holy cow how many guys can get a qualifier in one race anyhow!! Chris Solinsky -- he is an animal.

Jordon Hasay kicked some tiny little butt. Alice Schmidt - for an 800 meter runner she sure can kick up a neat 3k!! Alex K. did a great job last night for the 5K too.

Bonnie-isn't technology amazing? In the final heat of the guys 3k, Brandon's bro, Kevin Williams broke Ok's school record. My son had a teammate in the final heat and 2 others in the heats prior. Solinsky's mile!?! That is power. Drew's other teammate, Huffer, was on Solinsky for a bit before he faded.

SO, Kevin did not get the auto q in that race, and it looks tough to make it with a provisional as thta race alone will fill a heat with all the Q'ers. AMAZING!

I didn't get to watch Lagat or V, but heard about it from the flotrack broadcast during the 3k. I am going to look at that one next!

Sounds like a great day to me. Any time you run 17 you deserve pizza. Every time I run more than 10 I get extremely ravenous, so I have to be careful.
