Recover From Injury

Running Accomplishments:

I ran Varsity Track and Field in high school and was primarily a sprinter (100m, 200m). I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it!

Short-Term Running Goals:

I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.

Long-Term Running Goals:

 To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.

Personal:

I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride".

Went with Benn to a trail race in Monroe, MA today. Agreed to run the 2 miler there, though I haven't entered a race in 2 years and have never done a trail race before. Did a 1 mile warm up wih Benn. The race was cool but I was stuck behind two people on the single track trail for the first mile. Found a tiny clearing on the urnaround and booked it past them. Flew down the hill and hoped that I wouldn't catapult myself into the abyss. Hahaha. Ended up being the only one in my age group and placed. 8th out or 17 with a time of 20:51. Did a cool down and stretched. Lots more took place today, but Benn already wrote a play-by-play of the day's events.. check out his blog for more :)

Ran on the treadmill today. Did a 1 mile warm up at 6.2mph and then stretched. Got back on for another 3.52 miles at 6.2-6.3mph. Then began a 1 mile cool down at 6.0 mph for a total of 5.52 miles, all at 2% incline.  Stretched again and got into the shower before bed. It's FREEZING here! So unlike a typical October :(

Ran on the treadmill for 3.6 miles at 6.1-6.3mph and 2% incline. Did warm up stretching at 6 minutes in and again afterward.
