I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it! Short-Term Running Goals: I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.
Long-Term Running Goals: To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.
Personal: I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride". Ran on the treadmill this morning. Did a 1 mile warm up at 6.2-6.5mph then stretched. Jumped back on for 2.1 miles at 7.0mph with 2 or 3 intervals at 6.4mph. Then did a cool down run of 1 mile with 1 pound free weights at 6.5mph (all at 2% incline). Strecthed again and did multiple lunges and a few reps of 3 different types of squats, all with the free weights. Finished up with a little more stretching. Drank lots of water this morning. | | Comments(1) |
| | My best friend was in town for the day and we made plans to go to our favorite apple orchard, Bartlett's, and then walk to the nearby pond (Richmond Pond). We had a good time looking at all the cool home-made goodies at Bartlett's and we both bought a baggie or dired mangoes. Missy bought a bag of Gala apples, also. Then we took a nice walk down to the pond and back. We got to talk and catch up, enjoy the sunshine, and make plans to visit each other again of course! | | Add Comment |
| | Went for a run on the treadmill tonight. Did the first mile warm up at 6.2mph and then took a break to stretch. Hopped back on for another 2.1 miles at 7.0 mph with intervals at 6.5mph. Then began a cool down of 1 mile at 6.5mph to 6.2mph. All at 2% inline. Did when I was stretching when I was done and then did a bunch of free weight lifting. | | Comments(2) |
| | Did Power90 Cardio/Sweat 3-4 this morning. (Power yoga, kickboxing, jumping jacks, running, punching..full body workout)! Afterwards, did lunges and three different sets of squats. Stretched a lot but I'll probably feel it tomorrow! Total about 1 hour including stretches. | | Comments(1) |
| | Benn and I hiked Monument Mountain today. It was a bit rainy, but that just helped power great memories from last year's The views and breeze at the top were misty and wonderful. I had a ton of fun on the hike - it was probably somewhere around 3 miles total. | | Comments(1) |
