I also did the 400m, 4x400m, long jump and triple jump. Sprinting comes most naturally to me, but I am opening myself up to trying new things and increasing my endurance. I didn't get into running any long distance events until I met Benn and I'm still getting used to it! Short-Term Running Goals: I sprained my ankle the night before Thanksgiving 2008 which forced me to come back from that injury. Right now I am primarily doing running workouts in the 5k range, hiking, trail running, and some cycling. I also do lot of stretching and some free weight exercises, along with some cardio & yoga here and there.
Long-Term Running Goals: To stay healthy and active. To make exercise a permanent part of my life. To act as a roll model for wellness.
Personal: I live in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Am currently working at a day spa but am taking steps to work in a laboratory. Getting marriedto the guy of my dreams, Benn, in October 2010 and am honored to be able to spend the rest of my life with him. Lots of excitement and planning to do, but taking it all in "stride". OLE BAJEESH! Just finished an extreme 48 minute cardio workout. I think my quads exploded. My sister and I tried to mix it up by finding a workout on Exercise TV on Demand (free on the television menu). We did an 8 minute booty workout (I forget the name, but I am sure I laughed at it) and another 8 minute core exercise workout. Both SUCKED for my legs, on top of them already being a bit fatigued from Power Yoga yesterday (even though I didn't run/ellipticise afterward like I typically do). Finally, we went to the "New Year, New You" menu and chose Cindy Whitmarsh's "Less is More Calorie-Burning Cardio." I have no idea why they stuck 'less' in the title, because it was all 'more, More, MORE.' I think with the combined routines from the 3 videos, we worked EVERY MUSCLE in our bodies. We were yelling at the tv when we could catch a few breaths and calling the woman obscene names. It was a good bonding experience and a KILLER workout. I'm glad I kept pushing myself toward the end because I love that little feeling of accomplishment. Plus I needed to work off the extra calories from the weekend with Benn. I always eat more when he comes here because my Italian genes kick in and have to almost constantly offer food to any visitor.

| | Woke up this morning and went right down to the treadmill. I planned on running after I got out of work at 9 last night, but the half hour commute, tiredness, and hunger kicked in when I was about 15 minutes from home. LOL my body knows when I am nearing home. I still planned on going, but to my surprise both my sister and mom were there! They usually get out of work at 10pm and 12am, so I really wanted to see them (because I rarely get to see them during the day). Also, my sister had a new Netflix tv series on dvd that we could watch together. So we all snuggled up on the couches and watched the first episode and realized we couldn't watch any of the next 3 on the disk. Our dvd remote is long gone & lost forever, so we had no way of clicking the little arrow over on the screen. Darn!! After my sister fiddled with the tv remote and instructions on how to use it for dvds... we gave up. Anywho... back to today! I stretched and ran 3.1 miles at 6.0-6.2mph at 2% incline. Then I alternated the remaining mile between 6mph, 5mph, 4.2mph, and 4mph. Finished up with leg lifts, a few squats, stretches, and free weight lifting. Afterward I hauled tons of wood stacked on one end of my driveway to the other. We are supposed to get lots of rain, etc. this week and the wood would have gotten all drenched and frozen. After all of that, I picked up branches from my backyard (that had blown off in the wind storm last week) and added it to the bonfire pile. Finally, I shoveled off our trampolin ethat was bowing from the huge thick, heavy layer of ice and snow covering it. That was a mini workout in and of itself because the ice was so thick it was nearly unbudgeable. I had to hack away at it and then heave it to the side and over the edge of he trampoline. Wheph!! Now- time for work! blaaahhh :(

| | Really busy day and worked really hard. Took a break at 9pm and took a run on the treadmill. I did 3.1 miles at 6.0-6.2mph at 2% incline. Then did the last 0.5 miles as a cool down at 4.1mph. Stretched a bunch and went back upstairs to work some more! | | Comments(1) |

Knew I needed to make up for lost time this week and weekend for runs. After this entry I am packing to go to Boston for the weekend to visit my big sister and my old college roommate. I know they won't allow me to exercise while I'm visiting, so I woke up this morning, ate eggwhites, veggies, and some rice krispies for breakfast then stretched and jumped on the treadmill. I did 5.o miles at 6.0-6.2mph and 2% incline. After that, I did a cool down at 4.2mph for the remaining 0.2 miles. Next, I stretched and did some lower ab crunches. Finished off with a bunch of free weight lifting and more stretching.
