Running Accomplishments:

Ran 2:57 marathon in college 20 years ago.

Most all of my PRs are from when I was 29 and 30.

Half Marathon PR 1:17:16 (my best race ever 53rd place Indy Mini 1999)

10 Mile PR 57:22

15K PR 53:24

10K PR 34:29

5K PR 16:32

Short-Term Running Goals:

Start running again and run 1:30 for a half marathon this fall.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Break 3 hours for the marathon

Sub 17 5K, Sub 36 10K.

Personal:

I am married and have two wonderful kids, 14 and 10.  I've been running since 1982.  I never get "basic" injuries.  I always get the real nasty career threatening kind, like stress fracture of the sacrum, ganglion cyst clamping  down on my peroneal nerve.

Ran a pretty good 13 miles with Jacki from Meadows through Hawthorn Park, Rose-Hulman, etc. and back.  Temp cool 53 degrees.  Legs were sore at first.  Felt really good the last 5 miles.

Ran a semiquick 7.5 miles with Jeff tonight.  Really felt crappy earlier in the evening.  Layed down for about an hour, did some homework with Austin and then ate dinner.  Then went and ran.  Did not do the Octane during lunch today as I took a nap.

Tonight, ran from the Y through Deming Park and back in a Course record 54:35 by over 3 minutes.  Felt absolutely great tonight.  Temp cool 51.  Legs burned a little the first mile, yet went 6:35.  Dropped down to 6:30 pace and hit half way in 28:17 (second half in 26:18).  Last mile (slight downhill) in 5:18!  Felt like I could've gone a little faster, and I could have held 6 minute pace for probably another 30 minutes.  Another breakthrough run.  Took a 30 minute nap during lunch today instead of doing the Octane.  Didn't really plan on running hard tonight.  11 more days for my next shot at breaking 1:20 in the half marathon.  It was good to get this run under me since I've been struggling to get out the door.  I've run every day since we got back from vacation on June 30th.  That's probably the longest stretch in my 26 years of running.

Today at lunch, did a 10 minute warmup on the Octane, then ran 2 miles in 14:28.  First mile 7:46, second mile 6:42.  Then later this evening, it was parents vs. the kids at Austin's soccer practice tonight.  Played 2 25 minute halfs.  Lot of fun.

Ran a pretty good 6 miles w/ Jacki from Meadows through Woodridge and back.  Pretty quick tonight, 41:04.  Temp warm 64.  Supposed to get cold this week...  Left IT band a little tender the first couple of minutes.  Need to get new shoes.  I'm down to one pair of runnable shoes...

Ran a somewhat tough 7 miles w/ Jacki from Union Hospital up through Elks, etc.  Right leg really tight.  Did not feel all that great today.  Stress level at work was really high.  Feeling really tired and unmotivated all week.

Ran a semiquick 2 mile warmup.  Then ran 2x1 mile repeats in 5:48 and 5:25 w/ about a 5 min. rest between.  Was supposed to do 3 of them around 5:50, but went too fast.  Ran 4+ miles after around 7:00 pace.  One week to race day.
