Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

I originally signed up to run the full marathon back in May.  In July I injured my right foot somehow.  After a doctor visit and bone scan I'm still not quite sure how.  I know it wasn't a stress fracture, but other than that all I know is that it might be micro tears in the tendon that runs along the bottom of of my arch.  Due to the injury I ended up not being able to train for about 8 weeks.  As a result of that time off I lightly re-integrated training just enough to run the half marathon instead of the full marathon.  This is the slowest half I've ever run because I decided to run it with my wife.  She was training for her first half and I decided that this might be the only opportunity we will get to run one together.  So we ran it together in 2 hours 35 minutes and 36 seconds.  Other than the 31 degree wind chill we had a great time.  It was a cold one this year at the Route 66 Marathon.

I'm now looking forward to my next race which will probably be The Grasslands Run in Texas.  I'm still not sure based on my recovery if I'm ready for the full marathon, or if I should just run the half.  Since the race is 18 weeks from yesterday and the entry fee price increases at the end of the month I probably need to figure it out soon.

Happy Thanksgiving fellow running bloggers!

I literally woke up this morning and decided on a whim to go running.  I usually make a habit of running on holiday mornings, but last night I decided to take this one off.  When I woke up and saw one persons post on Facebook about having run yesterday I just could not resist the thought of going for a run myself.  Especially since I will be stuffing my self all day and watching football.  I might as well burn some calories this morning before I commence all the eating and lounging about.

I decided on the run to turn on some speed that I had not done in quite a while due to injury.

My splits:

8:00

7:32

7:14

8:30

I think I felt the injured tendon only slightly in my right foot only during the last mile and only for about twenty seconds.  I ended up running about .32 miles after the fourth mile at a 7:32 pace as a closer.  I finished feeling really good.
