Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

Nice long run this morning.  I did not negative split like I did last week, and I did run a 4 second slower pace.  I think I could have improved a little bit on last weeks pace, but I was running with my new running partner today and I have a hard time running off and leaving someone.  I eventually did on the last mile, but I probably should have broken somewhere during the last two or three.

I've been looking forward to Sunday morning all week.  I'm ready to relax for the rest of the day and watch the Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins tonight.

I ran 10 this morning at a nice 8:12 pace.  Somehow it felt harder than my Sunday 15 miler at an 8:00 minute pace.  I must still be recovering a little.

The muscles around my ankles, especially my right, felt a little sore this morning.  I took it easy and held back at an 8:22 pace.

My son Ty was born yesterday!  He is my first and he is the most awesome baby in the world.  I love him so much.

We went in to the hospital Wednesday night around midnight.  He was born on Thursday afternoon at 2:06 PM.  We got absolutely no sleep Wednesday night or Thursday during the day.  Thursday night I got a little lucky and he mostly slept through the night.  I went running on Friday at the trail across the street from the hospital.  I used to run there all the time years ago when we lived closer to that area of town.  I spent quite a bit of my childhood there as well since I had a pretty active mom.  It is for these reasons that running Lafortune park trail always brings back fond memories.  Now I have a new memory of running there.  I will always remember running Lafortune the day after my first was born.  I wrote in my running log that it was really hot and I was a little dehydrated, but it was an awesome run!
