Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

I am loving this cool weather.  I ran 15 miles at a 7:54 pace.  I drank 16 ounces of gatorade and 16 ounces of water.  At the half way point I ate 1 packet Gu.

My legs felt absolutely trashed on this mornings run.  It must be because of my 15 mile Sunday run at 7:55 pace followed by an 8.5 mile bike ride on Monday.  I think it also has something to do with not taking an ice bath after my long run Sunday.  That is one mistake I did not make today.

Nice recovery 5 mile run this morning.  The rain felt nice between miles 2 and 3.  I decided this morning that I have become a morning person.  If not for getting up early to accomplish my runs, I doubt I would have been as successful with my 5 day a week running program.  There are two reasons why I believe this to be the case.  The first is that you are more likely to get your workout done if you do it first thing as opposed to waiting until the end of the day.  You will probably find some excuse or task that you might tell yourself is more important to tend to in the evening.  You will also come home some days and just feel too tired to run and tell yourself you need the night off.  The second reason is that you feel so much better having gotten your workout out of the way after you have finished first thing in the morning.  It allows you more time throughout your day to be productive in other areas without having your workout looming over you.

Well I should have taken a rest day instead of trying to run this morning.  I was supposed to do 12 miles of speed training.  I got about half a mile in to my warm up mile and realized I was way to fatigued to run cruise intervals, so I decided just to turn my workout into a nice and easy 12 mile run.  Then I got to mile 3 and realized I better just turn around and head back because the only thing you could call what I was doing was running "junk miles."  Looking forward to resting tomorrow.
