Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

I left the house at 6:45 this morning.  The sun was already rising and the temperature was quickly rising with it.  Fortunately I have about 1/3 of my route shaded by trees until after about 7:20.  I felt pretty good this morning and I saw a lot of other runners out apparently feeling good too.

I'm really looking forward to getting a Garmin to track my splits.  I feel really constrained to my mapped out routes.

A very humid morning with a temperature starting out at 78 and a heat index of 83.  My legs still felt a little sore from yesterdays 11 mile run, but otherwise I felt pretty good.  I ordered my Garmin Forerunner 110 yesterday and I'm really excited about it.  I will finally be able to break free from my 3 mile neighborhood loop.  I've been running this same loop for 80% of my runs for the past 6 years.  It is beginning to get a little monotonous.

I finally beat the sunrise this morning.  I left the house at 6:10, which is about 15 to 20 minutes before the sun comes up.  The two older men that I almost always see walking, and have developed somewhat what of an acquaintance relationship with, asked me my name this morning.  So I stopped and introduced myself to them.  Their names are Sal and Don.  Now when I see them I suppose I can say, "good morning Sal and Don," as opposed to just, "good morning gentlemen."

Time: 1:30:26

Pace: 9:02

First 5: 44:18, average 8:51

Back 5: 46:08, average 9:13

My back 5 are always interrupted by two water stops.  I stop to refill the two bottles attached to my belt.  I've never timed this, but I would guess that I am stopped for a full minute at each of the two stops.  So when this is accounted for I believe that I ran the back 5 faster (at 44:08) than the front 5 (at 44:18) today.

This morning I felt a little fatigue and had some stomach cramping early on.  This was not one of my better runs.

Beautiful 80 degree (heat index 85) morning with a slight breeze.  I felt so much better this morning as contrasted with yesterday morning.  Running with stomach cramps is never fun.
