Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

We got lucky today that it did not rain on us for the first 35 minutes of our two hour run.  Sometime after that point it began to lightly sprinkle and continued to get harder until about and hour and half in.  At that point it turned to a heavy down poor with big lightning strikes all around.  I qualify this as a rave run.  The only problem with the timing of the down poor was that it was during the final quarter of my run which I had scheduled to run hard at near race pace.  By about one mile in to my final four fast miles my shoes were soaking wet and I was running into the wind.  I also had three hills to overcome during this part of my run.  Considering the challenges of the course and the elements I feel pretty good that I average 7:00 minute miles.  I was going for my race pace goal of 6:52.

Average moving pace: 7:47

Easy recovery run this morning at a 7:49 pace.  I really felt the soreness in my calves this morning from the previous two days of fast miles.  I could still feel the soreness a little at work today as well.  I'm hoping that I get a good recovery during sleep tonight so I can run some fast 800's tomorrow.

I'm stoked.  My goal was to run 5 800 repeats at 6:52 pace or 3:26 for each repeat.  I ended up with an average pace at 3:07.  I also felt so good after I ran my fifth that I decided to run a sixth before jogging my last cool down mile.

I took the past two days off because my calves were really sore.  My right calf was too sore.  I was afraid that I may have pulled something again because I did have problems with my right calf back in January.  So I rested Wednesday and Thursday instead of running my easy three mile run and my tempo run.  I opted to run my tempo run today.  I felt my right calf only a little during the first mile.  On my last mile I noticed my thighs were pretty sore/fatigued feeling which I thought was weird.  My chest was also feeling sore, which is leftover from my strength workout on Tuesday.  I guess I went a little too heavy on the weight.

I think I will do pilates tonight and rest again tomorrow.  Hopefully I feel good on Sunday to run my mock half marathon so I will know where I'm at.
