Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

The Oklahoma City Memorial marathon is a really fun race.  I went ahead and switched from the full to the half at the packet pickup because I just wasn't sure how my ankle was going to feel after several miles of pounding.

In the end, I probably could have stuck with the full.  I ended up beating my previous half marathon time by 30 seconds!  I'm feeling pretty stoked about that.

Next up I have the Full Moon 5k in a couple of weeks.  I'll take a short break, perhaps 2 weeks, and depending on how my ankle is feeling I'll start ratcheting up the mileage so I can get ready for the Route 66 Marathon in November.  That will be my next opportunity to hit my first 26.2.

I probably won't be doing any more night runs, as the darkness is what prohibited me from  seeing the rock I sprained my ankle on 9 days ago.

As for the race conditions today, the weather was excellent.  I awoke at 4:00 am and started hydrating.  The temperature was about 50 degrees.  There was a slight head wind walking from the hotel to the start line that caught everyone's attention as we passed between downtown buildings.  I don't really remember the wind being too much of a factor on the course itself.

I'll be back next year to run the full.  I missed out on running past lake Hefner, which was a highlight that I was looking forward to.

Hey, my wife and I just did OKC HM too. Great run, looks like we're in similar shape. Good luck in training for your first full as well. I must admit I was happy we got to turn around when the 2 races split off!

Great job! Good luck on your upcoming 5k and eventually your marathon.
