Personal:

Der Hammer is a nick name I picked up from my German friends while living in Germany. My real name is David.

I have been running seriously since March 2007.  I started with a local running group called "Gilbert's Gazelles".  Before that I had run a couple 5k's (26:00's) and never run more than 3 miles at one time.  I have lost about 40 pounds in a little over 2 years.

I am 45 years old, married and have 2 children, ages 5, girl, and 10, boy.  I try to keep my running from interfering with my family as much as possible, e.g. getting up at 5 am.  However, Saturdays are long run days and I don't come home until around 9 am or so.  I owe my family a debt of gratitude for allowing me to pursue this passion.

Met up with the group for another fun naked watch run, that is, no watches allowed.  We did 3.5 warm-up up through the rollingwood hills, turned around at Bee Caves, and started a hard progressive run.  We kept things under control until 1.5 miles left and with 1 mile to go everyone dropped the bomb and went for it.

If anything these runs are helping me become a mentally strong runner - esp. that last mile - mile and a half.

8 x 50m strides to finish off the day.

Lunchtime - core at the gym, back, abs, 40 or so lunges, push-ups, etc.

I bet it was a sight to see all those naked people running through central Austin.

Joe, That's pretty normal in Austin!

Good running DH, I'm feeling lazy reading your blog.

I guess it's quite common around here. :-) :-)

Round Rock police searching for man who has been running nude

Round Rock police are searching for a nude man who has been seen four or five times since January running in a field, said Dee Carver, a spokewoman for the Round Rock Police Department.

The latest sighting was Tuesday afternoon when a woman walking to a park said she saw the nude man in a field in the 1800 block of Warner Ranch Road, said Carver. “She said she looked at him and he looked at her and he started running,” Carver said.

Police have responded to complaints about the man but haven’t been able to find him, Carver said.

When people see him he is running in the field on Warner Ranch Road south to southeast toward the Warner Ranch apartments between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., she said.

“We have not had any reports of him being threatening or aggressive or showing any deviant behavior other than walking around in his birthday suit,” said Carver.

He has never approached anybody, she said.

The man is in his 30s, has short brown hair, a medium build and a pot belly, she said. Anyone who sees him is asked to call police at 218-5500.

It was nice of them to provide the age-group info at the end of the report.
