Personal:

Der Hammer is a nick name I picked up from my German friends while living in Germany. My real name is David.

I have been running seriously since March 2007.  I started with a local running group called "Gilbert's Gazelles".  Before that I had run a couple 5k's (26:00's) and never run more than 3 miles at one time.  I have lost about 40 pounds in a little over 2 years.

I am 45 years old, married and have 2 children, ages 5, girl, and 10, boy.  I try to keep my running from interfering with my family as much as possible, e.g. getting up at 5 am.  However, Saturdays are long run days and I don't come home until around 9 am or so.  I owe my family a debt of gratitude for allowing me to pursue this passion.

3 miles warm up followed by mile repeats on the hilly loop course with 3 mile cool down.  Coach said 4 repeats if racing the 10 mile race this Sunday, which I plan to do.  Legs were not feeling particularly strong this morning so not sure what is up with that. Still pretty happy with the pace considering the hilly nature of the loop.

Rather humid this morning and 65 degrees.

James - LOL - yeah, very disappointed in the first one! :-)

Flat - Run For The Water is put on by our running group - proceeds go towards providing fresh water via wells to people in Burundi - where our coach is from. The race is flat until miles 3-6 where the hills come in, with a flat finish back into town. I'll be happy if I can break 65 minutes.

Seriously that was a great run this morning, and I am sure you'll kick butt in the RFTW!

It was warm enough this morning that I actually thought to myself I'm glad I am not doing any kind of workout. So, way to turn in some great repeats.

Hilly sub 6's? You never cease to amaze me! Awesome job & good luck in the 10 miler! I did my first one about a month ago, that is a fun distance to race!
