Ran a relaxed 4 miles without the Garmin. Weather wasn't as cold as it has been, but it was dark Maybe another 4 miles tomorrow, or maybe I'll sleep in. I haven't decided. I want to keep my legs fresh and ready but not tight and stagnant. I don't completely understand this taper stuff. You rest and heal. But if I miss a week of running, I feel tight and slow. Where is the line between rested, healed, and strong -- and tight and slow. I also don't understand how cutting back on the miles and tapering is hard for people. I like to run, but I also really like the encouraged sleep-ins. I just don't feel an irresistible urge to run every day during a taper. After months of training, a few days off feels wonderful. My sister-in-law needs some female advice. She is training for a half marathon and running about 25 miles a week. She is worried about athletic amenorrhea. Her blog is rachael's runs. I've tried to get her to join this one. Maybe some of you can help convince her. |
